Rere Falls and Rockslide

The Rere Falls is where the Wharekopae River transforms from a slow moving body of water to an incredible cascade more than 20 metres wide and 10 metres tall.

Rere Falls is a perfect swimming and picnic spot or just sit and experience the natural beauty of this place. The Rere Rock Slide is 60 metres of sheer exhilaration as the waters of the Wharekopae River race down a giant slab of moss-covered sandstone into a naturally-formed freshwater pool. Best experienced with an inflatable device - available to hire from the Gisborne i-SITE - you'll want to take this ride over and over again.

Wa165 is the only remaining Wa class locomotive in the world and it has been lovingly restored to its former glory by a dedicated local team of volunteers.

Now Wa165 is retired but comes out for special steam trips and excursions for you and your families out in the sun. What makes our steam trips so special is the travel across the airport (the only one in the southern hemisphere) and the spectacular beach cliff views from 500ft above sea level at Beach Loop.

Tologa Bay Wharf

Extending far into the deep water of Tolaga Bay, this wharf is a legendary place to dangle a fishing line.

Allow half an hour to walk to the end of New Zealand's longest wharf and back. At 660 metres in length, this is no ordinary pier. Locals love the wharf because it's part of Eastland history, and because it's a most excellent place to catch a fish.
